ITINERARY

May 13 – Day 1 

On arrival at O’Reillys from 2pm we settle into our rooms then we’ll meet our guides and Damian for a pre-adventure briefing and then venture out on our private sunset experience. We take prime position at a surprise venue for simply stunning sunset views and landscape/nature photography and video tuition and a cheeky drink or two before heading back for our group dinner. After dinner we have time with Damian in the evening in a private room to debrief some of the techniques learned today and Q&A (D)

May 14 – Day 2 

Today we are up and into it early with an early morning wildlife bird watching/photography trek before breakfast. After a delicious breakfast back at base we pick up our packed lunch and will delve into the stunning landscape with a Guided Walk Elabana Falls and Box Forest (aprox. 6 hours) with tuition and practice in waterfall photography before returning to base for afternoon tea then a tuition session with at base Damian before dinner then an Astro Photography session before hitting the hay after a big day!

May 15 – Day 3

After another early bird photography session before breakfast we head out on a trek to Moran Falls learning along more wildlife and landscape photography skills along the way (approx 3 hours) After lunch at the mountain cafe we attend our own private Bird of Prey and wildlife experience session to learn more skills including long exposure photography. After afternoon tea back at base we have another theory and Q&A with Damian that afternoon. After dinner we board the four-wheel-drive bus for a guided ancient rainforest tour to the mystical Glow Worm grotto. Perch yourself beside the secluded gully, home to millions of ancient Glow Worms, illuminating the cliff face in a blanket of twinkling stars. The best time to view Glow Worms is after sunset. May 16 – Day 4

Our final day – after breakfast and checking out (storing our bags for collection later) we have our own private wildlife experience again taking in landscape and wildlife photography skill training then a guided tree-top walk before our final morning tea together and barista coffees and debrief with Damian before heading home with a head and heart full of wonderful memories, new friends and new skills!

About Damian

Damian Caniglia is a graduate of Griffith University and The Queensland College of Art majoring in photojournalism. His work has included both national and international commissioned film and photographic based projects as well as facilitating photography workshops/tours internationally. Damian’s overseas work has seen him work on all 7 continents including both the Antarctic and Arctic regions, as well as Papua New Guinea, Alaska, Far Eastern Russia, Nepal, India, and Southern Africa. With a growing list of publications and clients that have used images and footage including Australian Geographic, Virgin Airlines, Philippine Airlines, Canon Australia, Eyes for Everest, Lonely Planet, Rock Climbing Magazine, Inside Sport and The Australian Gourmet Traveller, he is focused on returning with images and footage that speak of the people and places he visits as well as projects he is commissioned to document.

Damian’s catalogue of images are purchased largely as art prints by people wanting to bring the natural world into their daily living and office space as well as licenced for commercial and editorial use.

He has had images and video projects awarded at a State and National level. Damian is a qualified trainer and is committed to helping others develop their own skill and knowledge in the story telling process through visual content production.
