DEPARTURE DATES-See our online calendar for details

Climb for a Cause to the Roof of the World!

Starting with two nights in a wilderness reserve in West Kilimanjaro with the possibility of seeing some of the biggest elephants left in Africa, this trip allows guests to see and learn more about the mountain that has fascinated European explorers since it was first sighted in 1849. Following our time on the plains we start toward the peak at Lemosho on the Western side and traverse across the most spectacular parts of the mountain including the Shira plateau, Lava Tower, Barranco valley and up to the summit via Stella Point. Watching the sunrise from the summit is something that you will remember forever.

Enquire today and make a difference to your own life and to those of others by taking on a challenge to support one of our special charities, The Cancer Council.

Our Itinerary

Day 1 - ARUSHA
Upon arrival into Kilimanjaro International Airport we are personally met and transferred to our hotel in Arusha. This evening there is a comprehensive briefing and equipment check with the Climbs Manager and our guides.

Day 2 - WEST KILIMANJARO
After breakfast we depart by vehicle to West Kilimanjaro. Lunch is taken in camp before an afternoon game drive.

Day 3 - WEST KILIMANJARO
Today we have a full day of activities starting first thing with sunrise over Kilimanjaro! Here we have the freedom to meet and even walk with Maasai in the wilderness as well as game drives, night game drives and meals al fresco. Our guides are with us throughout to answer and explain the environment and history of this very special area. Horseback riding is also available.

Day 4 - KILIMANJARO / FOREST
We set out in vehicles to the starting point of the Lemosho trail. Here we meet the rest of our crew and set off at a leisurely pace into afromontane forest. Lunch is taken on trail and camp is reached mid afternoon.

Day 5 - KILIMANJARO / SHIRA 1
From the forested slopes of Lemosho we ascend through Podocarpus and Juniper forest and break out of the forest on to the heath zone and the Shira Plateau. Lunch is taken on trail and we arrive in camp mid afternoon.

Day 6 - KILIMANJARO / SHIRA 2
After a relatively long hike and significant altitude gain, today is a short day and we arrive in Shira 2 camp in time for lunch. A good day for acclimatization with the option of an afternoon walks with our guides.

Day 7 - KILIMANJARO / BARRANCO
Today we ascend into alpine desert and for those that are feeling strong you can even head up to Lava Tower before descending to Barranco camp. Lunch is taken as a picnic lunch on route. This is a long day which pays dividends later on in the journey.

Day 8 - KILIMANJARO / KARANGA
We now have a relatively short day to Karanga Camp, after conquering the Barranco Wall. The selection of Karanga Camp is strategic – significant time at altitude is essential for safe acclimatization and in the late afternoon we arrive in camp. Sunsets here are particularly spectacular with views of the southern glacial valleys and ice fields towering 1000 meters (over 3000 feet) above us.

Day 9 - KILIMANJARO / BARAFU
Today is another half day ascending to Barafu Camp. Once again lunch is taken in camp allowing plenty of time to relax before the summit bid. Desolate alpine desert and at times strong winds rip over this camp and yet in the evening splendid views of Mawenzi peak are the norm. A relatively early dinner is taken before heading to rest for the evening.

Day 10 - KILIMANJARO / CRATER
Unlike other routes with a night time ascent, our hike selection affords us a day time ascent to Kibo crater. The going is slow but with constant encouragement from our climb team the rim of Kibo is reached before descending a little way into the caldera to Crater camp. The afternoon is spent relaxing and short walks can be taken with one of our guides.

Day 11 - KILIMANJARO / SUMMIT / MWEKA
Most people depart just before midnight for the final summit bid. Patience and persistence is the name of game to reach the summit and by dawn as the first rays of light start to appear, most arrive near the rim. Ascending via Stella Point affords a relatively short final section to Uhuru peak, the Roof of Africa! What goes up must come down and our goal today is to reach Mweka camp before dusk.

Day 12 - KILIMANJARO / OUT / ARUSHA /
After breakfast we descend once again through montane forest and around midday after saying farewell to our crew, we are picked up and transferred back to our hotel for a well deserved shower and celebratory dinner!

Day 13 - ARUSHA / DEPART
Today a dayroom is held for our convenience to freshen up, have lunch and re pack before being transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for connections to International departures or you connect with onward journeys.
